A few trees have come down over the last two weeks whilst we have been away enjoying the sun in Cuba, well mostly sun, it did rain on four days and the rain was mega torrential.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We visited the wood yesterday, Saturday 1st of March, and counted roughly 15 trees which were over, including the root pan. Probably the very wet winter, the most rainfall since 1770 or whatever, has caused the trees to be uprooted as the roots  do not penetrate very deep so once the soil becomes waterlogged their grip becomes quite minimal. You can see how close to the surface the water table is because where the trees have been uprooted there is now standing water.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
